They've been good friends for over 3 decades. So it's only right the former head honcho at Sony and now mentor to the legends, Clive Davis, took Aretha Franklin out to dinner for her 69th birthday last night.

Aretha turns 69 today, and she and Mr. Davis and her crew were spotted at dinner last night at Le Bernardin. Clive Davis brought Aretha to Arista records back in 1980. And now, he says he will be working with her on a new project this year.
Clive said back in February after Aretha's mysterious surgery:
"I just got off the phone with her, and she's sounding very good. We had a wonderful conversation, and we’re looking forward to working together. She's planning to come here when the weather gets a little warmer in New York."
